Today marks one of my favorite months in the world of nutrition. March is National Nutrition Month and this year’s theme is “Eat Right with Color.” Adding a splash of colorful seasonal foods to your daily intake not only gives you a festive meal, but also provides a great deal of nutrients. Including a variety of foods and colors to your diet will help you maximize the nutritional values of your meals. Stay tuned to future posts as we explore the color guide to foods.

Throughout our STRIVE 2 Survive wellness program and many of our blog posts, you will find us discussing the importance of having a support system -aka- ‘a buddy’! Dr. Dan’s dog’s name is Buddy…and is literally his running and biking buddy. I rely on my family and close friends to keep me motivated to stay on track with my wellness goals. Your buddy could be your pet, spouse, friend, co-worker, sister/brother, etc. Whoever it is, ask for their support in your wellness efforts! Those that have a support system are often times more successful with their goals.

Tomorrow’s STRIVE 2 Survive lecture given by Dr. Clark Likness will be focusing on the wellness wheel and how the different parts of our lives contribute to overall wellness. It’s a great topic as many other factors contribute to our weight issues and overall health. Since Dr. Dan is off enjoying sun and warmer temps, I am going to show you all some seated exercises you can do at home or work. Looking forward to seeing you tomorrow!
