One of my favorite things about fall is the variety of apples that we can find at the grocery store or farmer’s market. One of my absolute favorites is the honeycrisp apple. It offers a vibrant taste that I can’t get enough of! The various types of apples can be used for different purposes such as making sauce, jam, baking, and just every day eating enjoyment. Be sure to check out the variety next time you’re at the store or market. You can also read my Fall 2010 newsletter that discusses apples in more detail under “Info” and then “Newsletter” tab.

With the air being cooler in the morning, it makes for some great scenery when the sun comes out. Here this AM, this “jet stream” of fog was in the air. Very peaceful and relaxing time to go out running and pass through some of these pockets of fog. The time goes by even faster when you have some interesting things to look at while you are out exercising. When the sun was shining more later, these pockets of fog were just hanging low to the bike trail, and made for an indescribable calm as I passed through them. It made for a great way to start the day. Try it sometime!

Rode around the Lake this afternoon on my bike after it quit raining and started to warm, and the weather was perfect to go for a walk. Bike path is good at times, but sometimes you just need to get off of the beaten path and be alone to think. It was a perfect day for that. Everything is always so busy, with all of us having a thousand things to do, and even that won’t get us caught up. We need to get things done, but we also need to take time to relax and enjoy. In the next few days, it is supposed to cool down again, and then will warm back up again, and last awhile. I am ready to hang on to these kind of days for as long as possible. Take the time to get out…you won’t regret it. Enjoy the coming week.

When you are deciding on your goals, take to the time to sit back and really think about them. What do you think you can reasonably expect to change, or accomplish? What do you expect to get out of the change should you achieve it? So before you go diving into a list of goals that may be unreasonable, or unachievable, sit back and really take the time to think about it. This goes for exercise in general. Even when you do get into a regular exercise routine, it is OK to listen to your body and relax, or take a day off if you need it, or to ease back on how much exercise you may do that day. You need recovery days too. Here Sarah sits out at the lake and takes in some rays of sun after we had gone out for a bike ride around the lake on sunday, when it was still really nice out. Enjoy the relaxation time too!
