Turkey Day Race/Walk Continued

Here, Molly and Sarah are getting their numbers ready to wear for the Annual Turkey Day Race/Walk.  For our family, it has started to become a family tradition for Thanksgiving.  This obsiously has for a lot of other families too, and many of the same people come each year.  Thanksgiving is a time when a lot of the families get back together for the holidays, and this is a good way to make it a part of tradition.

This is the race finish line.  You cross the mat, and the timing system is connected to enter you and your time because of the chip we all have on our shoes.  It worked great this year.  As far as I know, there were no glitches.  It did not work the greatest last year, maybe because of how cold it was.  We use this same system for the hospital hill run, and we usually have some glitches with it.  It still works much better than manually timing everybody, and then trying to get everybody categorized into their age brackets.  Keep in mind for next year.  Hope to see you then!

Turkey Day Race Images

Here was the registration area for the Turkey Day Race/Walk yesterday on Thanksgiving.  All of the packets of the pre-registered people are all set up.  There were also people registering that morning.   A total of 329 participants for the day.

Here Jill Makepeace, family and friends are getting ready for the race.  They decided to participate wearing “tutus”.  It was a great way to spend the morning.  Pumpkin pie for all participants, but after the race/walk was done.  You had to earn your pie!  I will show a few more images tomorrow as well.

Happy Thanksgiving!

Happy Thanksgiving everybody!  Here we all are getting the food ready, and about set to sit down.  We had just participated in the Annual Hiedeman Turkey Day run/walk earlier this AM, and are now getting ready to eat.  We got our exercise in for the day, and can now justify “splurging” a little with the food.

The food was wonderful, and well worth the effort.  Sarah and the kids, her mom, brother, and sister even all went out for a walk after eating because it was so nice out.  Now they have room to do it again for supper.   Are not holidays fun, or what?  Have a good Thanksgiving, and hopefully you get to spend some time with your family.  I will post some pictures of the race today later this week.

Turkey Day Run/Walk

The annual Turkey Day Race, 5K run and 2 mile walk, will be again on Thanksgiving, this thursday, starting at 10 AM.  The weather is supposed to be great, and it is a great way to get your exercise in before you sit down and eat the rest of the day.  It is a great social gathering, and usually about 150+ people that come.  Below is the information for the race.  Come out and enjoy before the holiday meal!

The Calm after the Storm

Once the winter storm left the snow, then things calmed down pretty well.  It was a huge difference out at the lake.  Relatively calm today, but very cold.  It is on days like this when you have to make adjustments to your exercise routine.  I decided to work out inside today and rode the bike.  I did my exercise outside later moving snow.

Mother Nature can at least make is look really pretty out…a day after it was pretty ugly outside.  When we live here, we take the good with the bad.  Looking forward to some better temperatures again as the week goes on, and maybe a lot of this snow may be gone then.  Dare to dream!

Winter 2011 Begins!

Sarah and I managed to get outside early this AM to go for our run before it really started snowing.  We had only a few flakes at the start, then started getting a little heavier as we went, but didn’t really start coming until after we were done.  We just had to put up with the wind.  Here is what it is doing outside now.  The wind is blowing pretty good, and you can see the contrast of what the snow is doing against the window section on the left versus the screened section on the right.  Hopefully after today, the snow won’t last long as it is supposed to get close to the 40’s as the week goes, and the high 40’s by Thanksgiving.  Yeah!  Have a good weekend, and stay safe.
