Went out with Buddy this AM for a walk. We got some snow last night, but with the upcoming temps, I don’t think it will last long. Buddy was in the holiday spirit, and was fired up to go walking.

From Buddy and I, we say to you all: Hope your holidays are filled with good times, family time, and just time to do things for yourselves. Stay healthy. Stay active. Have fun. Whatever your faith, or your beliefs this time of year, it is a time for family. Spend it well with them, and do it however you chose to do. Happy Winter Solstice! Merry Christmas! Take care for now!

Out walking with Buddy late this AM on the bike trail, enjoying the fact that we do not have much snow yet, even though it has been cold enough to create a good ice layer on the lake. Out on the lake was a parent with their yound child, playing hockey. You could hear all the laughing and cheering from the little one, just having a ball. Now this is how you take advantage of winter, and you go out and play, and exercise. This is a great way to stay active.

They wer skaing all along the shore line, and using the hockey sticks, and going after the puck. Maybe a future all-american hockey player! Out on the lake were quite a few people ice fishing as well. You get to relax once you are out there and set up, but it involves a lot of work and activity to get out there and set up. Take advantage of what the weather provides. You can find ways to be active, and yet have fun. Have a good christmas season coming. Stay active!

Even though the Lake is getting iced over, the temperatures this weekend have been very nice, and very enjoyable for spending outside. When we went walking today, we saw severa out on the Lake ice fishing already. It was 41 degrees when we went this afternoon. The longer we go with no other snow, the better!

Here Sarah and Buddy are walking towards me by the boat landing near Jackson Park. We plan on taking advantage of thes days outside with no snow and ice for as long as we can. You do the same! Have a good week coming up!

Yes, it is getting colder outside, but we still have no snow, or very little. Here Sarah is getting ready to go out this sunday morning with Buddy for a walk, who is ready anytime! You just have to be smarter about what you wear.

Here is a close up of Sarah. She has several layers on, and the face mask and hat. She went out with Buddy for a 3 mile walk, or about 45 minutes time, and did fine. You still have the options of doing exercise indoors, but there are times when you just need to get out, and have other things to look at. Take advantage of the no snow yet. It will be coming! Have a good week coming!

Ever heard that saying? I had a recent request to discuss foods that help keep our skin healthy and glowing and that saying came to mind when thinking of this specific topic. What eat truly does make a difference in our bodies, not only inside, but the outside too! Diets high in fat and white carbs can cause issues with our skin, whereas a balanced diet, focused on bright colored fruits and vegetables, whole grains, lean meats, and healthy fats can truly help make our skin glow. Below is a list of the top foods to promote healthy skin:
- Low fat dairy products & yellow/orange fruits and vegetables such as carrots and apricots: foods high in vitamin A promote healthy skin
- Berries, such as blueberries, raspberries, strawberries, etc: these foods are full of antioxidants, helping promote healthy skin
- Healthy fats founds in salmon, walnuts, almonds, canola oil, and olive oil: these foods contain essential fatty acids helping make our skin healthy and glowing
- Whole grains: contain selenium, which promotes skin health
- Green Tea & Water: green tea contains anti-inflammatory properties and water helps keep us hydrated.
You may notice many of these foods are on the heart healthy list as well, so not only are you going to have glowing skin, you’ll have a healthy heart!

The annual Parade of Lights was again the day after Thanksgiving. It was great weather to be outside for. The temperature stayed in the upper 30’s. It was another way to get some more exercise in, and we covered about 2 miles with the parade. This is a side view of our Brown Clinic float.

Here is a view from the backside. “Merry Christmas”. It won’t be long before this holiday is here. Hopefully everybody had a good Thanksgiving, and a good holiday weekend. Enjoy the week coming up. Keep moving!
