Happy Fathers Day!

My mom and dad came for the weekend, and of course my dad has to have some work to do.  Here he is with Sarah working in the garden.  Always active, and on the move.  79 years old…rides his stationary bike 15 miles a day!

I guess I know where I get my exercise habits from…the apple does not fall far from the tree!  It was a great weekend spending time with them.  You have taught me a lot over the years, and I appreciate all of it.  Happy Fathers Day Dad!  Happy Fathers Day to all you dads out there.  You deserve it!

Hospital Hill Run/Walk 2011

And we are off!  Yesterday was our 15th annual Hospital Hill run/walk.  We had approx 200 participants.  Best of all…we had great weather!  Good turn out, for a good cause…proceeds will go the Prairie Lakes Caring Club House.

Nick after the race…he got 3rd overall…but I was breathing down his neck as I came in 5th.  Good day for the race, and Nick had a good 14th birthday as well.  The race was initially developed by me 15 years ago as a means to get people out and be active, whether running or walking.  Stay healthy, and have fun!  Thanks to all my support people for helping to make this event a success…there is no way I could do this by myself.  Thanks to all of you for all of your help!

Happy Birthday!

Happy 14th Birthday Nick!  He stays very busy between basketball and running, and today won his age group at the Hospital Hill run, which I will show some pictures tomorrow.  It was a great day…

…and remember, sometimes it is OK to “splurge” a little with the food/diet, and remember to enjoy life.  You make up for it in other ways, activity, decreased portions somewhere else.  Remember, enjoy the important things in life when they come, otherwise you may just miss out on them!

Memorial Day

In between rain bursts, hopefully you have had time to enjoy the weekend, and Memorial Day.  But remember what Memorial Day is really about…honoring those who died during military service.  Don’t forget what they gave up for us.

If you have not gone to see the Veterans Memorial here in Watertown, go see it.  It is very nice.  Remember again what they did for us.  It is located out at City Park, so go out for a walk along the paths here, and go see who from our area sacrificed for us.

Race for Chase

It turned out to be a great day for the 1st annual Race for Chase…a combine run/bike team event.  I gave other details yesterday.  Weather kind of hindered some people from deciding on whether they would come or not, but for those of us who did, we had a really fun time…

…Sarah and I won the coed division in a time of 56:01…just under 10 miles total for the course, just getting beat out on the last stretch by the overall winners by about 13 seconds.  Bottom line, it was for a good cause, was competitive, and a lot of fun.  First time Sarah and I were in an event as a team.  Partners for life!
