More Triathlon Images

All the participants start setting up their individual stations for the 3 events.  Here we have our bikes and all of our running gear in the same spot.  Where the truck behind these people is at is where we come out of the water, and enter the mats that are laid out in this transition area.

Here Sarah is running as she got out of the water to enter the transition area.  If you look over the right shoulder of participant 611, this is Sarah leading a pack out of the water.  I will have some other images coming soon of participants, and families, who made this triathlon a family affair.

27th Annual Hyvee Kampeska Triathlon

Today marked the 27th Annual HyVee Kampeska triathlon, which consists of a 1/4 mile swim in Lake Kampeska, 14 mile bike ride around Lake Kampeska, and then a 5K run.  The morning started out great, but then started getting really warm when we were running.  Here Sarah and I are as we are getting ready with pre race setup.

Here we have our bikes set up in the racks ready for the bike transition.  The Lake is out in the distance, and that is where we will be coming out of the water to hit the bike leg next.  I will show a few more pictures of how things proceed with the triathlon over the next few posts.

4th of July Parade

Here is our float from the 4th of July parade.  Brown Clinic, the Bedrock of Healthcare, with the Flinstones theme.  It was a great day for being outside and enjoying the weather.  Our cast of characters from the Flinstones was a big hit at the parade.  Our float took 2nd overall for float design.

Here is our cast of characters.  I am Fred Flinstone, with Wilma (Sarah) next to me.  We also had Barney, Betty, Pebbles, Bam Bam, Dino, Cave man, and another dinosaur.  Lots of fun!  The parade route covers about 2 miles, so great walking activity as well.  Enjoy the rest of the summer!

Happy 4th of July!

Happy 4th of July everybody!  Be safe, stay active.  Getting ready for the parade this afternoon.  Our theme will be the “Flinstones”, and we will all be dressed in characters.  This is a fun way of showing how the Brown Clinic has been the “Bedrock of the community for years!”

I will post pictures later this week of us at the parade.  Have a great day.  Enjoy the weather.  Enjoy our freedom, and realize who had to sacrifice in order for us to keep it all of these years, both in the past, and our current military people.  Thank you!

Exercise in New York

Well, I can check off the list the state of New York for where I have exercised.  Some of the days I stayed inside as the crowds were too big outside, and it made for moving around very slow.  The hotel was facing Time Square, so you got to exercise on the equipment looking out giant windows at Time Square, and watching all of the billboards, lights, and people outside.  It made the exercise time go very fast.  We still did lots of walking as well, but you have to be flexible enough to decide when you are going to exercise, and where, and be safe at the same time.  Here is an image of the exercise room and the windows for the view.   Have a good weekend, and enjoy the great weather, and the holiday!

New York Trip

The New York trip was definitely an eye opener!  Lots of people.  The only grass I saw was here at Central Park…full of a lot of people relaxing, walking, enjoying the day.  The one thing about where we were at, and Time Square, the easiest way to get a round was to WALK!  We did lots of walking.  Even the tour guides said that people in New York do a lot of walking, because of the traffic, crowds, this is one of the easier ways to get around…that and the subway!  Anyway, I logged miles and miles each day in the evenings out walking.  Now we have warm weather here as well…just would be nice if we did not get all of it in one day.  Have a good rest of the week.
