Chill in the Air!

There is definitely a chill in the air this week with the weather change.  The leaves are close to all being off the trees.  Today ended up colder, but no wind, so it actually did not feel too bad outside running/walking today.  It is so much more enjoyable to be outside yet, especially when the winds are calm.

Even with the leaves all coming off, and winter starting to approach, the view of things can still really be enjoyable.  Enjoy these days being out yet.  Before too long it will be dark when we go in to work in the morning, and dark when we come home.  Enjoy the days before the snow comes.  Have a good weekend coming up.!

Parents Trying to Keep Up

This weekend in Brandon was the ESD cross country championship.  Here Molly is leading for us in the JV race.  She ran 4000 meters, and with the course they had, was 2 big loops, and one small loop.  The big loops included a very big hill.  Sarah and I, between 4 different races to watch, easily covered about 3 miles ourselves just trying to keep up and cheer, not only for our own kids, but Watertown as well.

Here Nick is at the bottom of the hill.  He had to cover 5000 meters, and was 3 big loops, with that big hill each loop.  We chose to at least stay at the bottom of the hill, and then kept running back and forth across the center of the course.  I think by the time it was all done, we needed someone to cheer for all of the parents.  It is a great way to show your kids how being active is important.  They are in running a race, we can run back and forth for them as well.  The good thing is the rain held off until everything was done.

Here is to a good week coming.  Stay active.

Happy Anniversary Sarah!

Today is our wedding anniversary.  21 years for Sarah and I.  Just like everybody else, we have been through a lot, but we keep each other going.  Whether it is taking care of our kids, our health, or each other, we are always there, and always have been.  I may do a lot of my exercise with my Golden Retriever, Buddy, but Sarah is my ultimate training partner/partner in general.  It is so much easier to focus on your health, and to try and eat right, and exercise, when your spouse is on the same page as you.  If your spouse or partner is not with you, keep trying.  Some day it may surprise you.  We both ran today, and I also rode the bike.  We are always active, and keep each other motivated.

Here is to many, many more years Sarah!  Thanks to our friend/photographer Cory Ann Ellis for taking great pictures!

Just what the Doctor ordered!

The weather this weekend was amazing!  It was great spending time outside.  It looks like the bulk of this week is going to be much of the same.  Don’t waste it!  Get out and enjoy it!  The leaves changing color make it very pretty to watch.  It was a great weekend to go biking.  I had gone out earlier, and then later Sarah and Megan went out for a ride.

Here they are coming home.  Of course, Megan is shielding her eyes from the camera, not the sun.  The two of them have been doing quite a few rides together these last few weeks.  It was great motivation to get Megan out doing something other than swimming.  This is also where it is good to have a training partner, friend, daughter, mother, son, spouse, pet, whatever the case may be, to help get you motivated to get out and exercise.  Keep each other going.  Enjoy the coming week.

Arrows Homecoming Week

It was a very busy week, both at home and at work.  It was homecoming week for the Watertown Arrows, with lots of activities for the kids, and for the parents, to be busy.  We also had a cross country meet, the homecoming parade, the girls were in the powder puff football game, the actuall football game friday night, and then Molly and Nick had a band competition in SF yesterday.  We all were staying very active this week.  With the weather these last few weekends, it has been great to get outside and enjoy it.  Keep going, and spend time outside as long as we can.

4 Years and counting…

Well, today I started a new year.  I finished after yesterday, 4 years in a row of exercsising everyday!  Now it is second nature.  I do it without even thinking about it.  That is what you need to do in regards to your exercise and activity.  Once it becomes a habit, it becomes much easier.  Don’t get me wrong, there are days that are still tougher than others, but the hardest part is getting out and doing it.  Once you get going, the rest gets much easier, and you feel so much better, and are happy for doing it.  Keep your chin up!  Keep at it!  You can do it too!  Remember to pick activities that you like to do.  If you do activities that seem more of a chore, or you really don’t like doing, you won’t continue with it.  I enjoy my activities, and right now, would not have it any other way!
