Once again, it is that time of year to celebrate our Dad’s! We all have unique Fathers, with their own personalities, and character traits, both good and bad. But, they are still our Dad’s, and that makes each one of them the best! We all have learned a lot from them, and hopefully we will be able to keep those good qualities and traits alive and well forever, if when our Dad’s are no longer here. My Dad passed away March of 2014, and this is now the 2nd Father’s Day without him. It is still extremely difficulty, and I miss him a lot. I have all the memories of him growing up to keep looking back at, and all of the pictures. Every once in awhile I go sorting through pictures again and those memories come flooding back just like they were yesterday! Hopefully, I have learned many of the good things passed down from him, and utilize those traits for my own kids. Of all of the things to accomplish in life, I want to go from this life knowing that I will be remembered as a good Dad. Almost any man can be a Father, but it is those special qualities, and characteristics, that make us unique, and have the honor of being called “Dad”! Below are some pictures the last year with my Dad, and then their wedding picture, followed by my mom’s 80th birthday celebration. Their love for each other never faltered after 59 years of marriage. Hopefully, I will have that honor as well. I love you Sarah, and thanks to you, we have Molly, Megan, and Nick. What more can anybody really ask for? Keep moving everybody!

Yesterday, Saturday, June 13, marked another successful Hospital Hill Run/Walk. It was our 19th year, and we had close to 200 people! The weather was great, low 60’s, mild breeze…as a runner, you could not ask for much more. It also happen to be National Get Outdoor Day, so it was a great way to kick it off with the run. Below are several pictures of the event…Sarah, and my daughter Molly, and sister-in-law Suzy;registration, runners/walkers getting ready; past marathon running partner Tom, with Tim, and Brian as our bike rider leader; and nurses from Brown Clinic, both past and present, with Chris, Susan, and Shelly. It was a great way to spend the morning with other walkers/runners, and of course, friends! We can all be outside, enjoy the weather, and get some exercise at the same time. Keep moving everybody!

It is that time of year again. The Hospital Hill Run is this coming Saturday, June 13, 8AM. It has been 19 years now, and still going strong. I originally started this event as a means to get people out and exercise, whether walking or running. I just wanted to get people out and move! It is now become a goal for people…wanting to finish this race, and “do the Hill”! The finish line is at the top, and it has created a challenge for many of us. No matter how many time many of us may of done this, that Hill presents a challenge to us all every time. So, join us this Saturday…food, activity…tradition! (The shirts this year are really cool too!) Here are some pictures of the event, and sponsors. The link to also download an application can be found at www.prairielake.com, and view under events. The link is on the June 13 date, and you can download a registration form there as well. Keep moving everybody!

Well, this weekend marked the end of Nick’s high school adventure. We were out in Sturgis and Rapid City for the State Track Meet. It may not have been the final outcome that he wanted, but he still did well. He gave it all he had, and that is all you can ask for. The weather started out cold and rainy, then got sunny. It was a good run all in all. It was his final meet with his friends, classmates, running partners. Once again, memories to last a lifetime. He started out earlier in the week at the Spring Athletic Awards ceremony winning the Godfrey award. It was started back in 2013, with Molly winning the first one for girls. It is in tribute to Vic Godfrey, longtime coach for Watertown, who still helps out with Cross Country and Track, but retired in 2013. The winner had to be in Track since 7th grade, show leadership, determination, experience high points, and low points during their years of participation, and show how they can come back. I am very proud of Nick for winning this (and Molly!). This winner was chosen by the coaches. Godfrey was, and is, a great coach, and someone to truly look up to. This was the highlight of Nick’s career! Good job Nick. High School is now officially over…you made it, and you did well! I am glad your mom and I got to experience it with you! Keep moving everybody!

It seemed like only yesterday I was getting my kids harnessed up in the car seats, getting ready to go somewhere. Now they are doing the driving. It has been a great adventure, these years as a parent, taking care of the kids, and watching them grow up. I did have some experience with my twin daughters, though. It made taking care of Nick easy. Of course, with Noah Hauck growing up with him, it was like having another set of twins at home. I can’t thank Carletta Hauck enough for all she did for all during all of those years of them growing up. If she would not have been our daytime nanny, there would have been no way Sarah and I could have done what we did. I think that over these years, we did a good job setting our priorities. Did we make it to every event our kids had? No. But we did our best to make sure at least one of us was there for all of them, rotating at times. Later on as they got older, we both got to make to the majority of their activities. And with all of the activities available to kids now, that was a lot. It was a lot of work, but I would not trade it for anything. It has been fun this last month as we get ready for Nick to graduate, looking through all of the pictures from these growing up years. It is why as a parent you want to be around, and help participate in all of these memories. So, all you parents out there. Keep working on your health so you can be around to share in all of these. Once the kids graduate, it won’t be long into the future and they will start having kids. Take if from me…I never got to meet either one of my grandfathers, and always felt like I missed out on a lot of things with them. Don’t be one of them. If you have any say in the matter, be around for those grandkids…to be able to spend time with them. Talk about something being truly priceless! Below are pictures of Nick and Noah when they graduated yesterday, holding their diplomas, and below that, the day they graduated from preschool. Time really does go fast! Keep moving everybody!
