It seemed like only yesterday I was getting my kids harnessed up in the car seats, getting ready to go somewhere. Now they are doing the driving. It has been a great adventure, these years as a parent, taking care of the kids, and watching them grow up. I did have some experience with my twin daughters, though. It made taking care of Nick easy. Of course, with Noah Hauck growing up with him, it was like having another set of twins at home. I can’t thank Carletta Hauck enough for all she did for all during all of those years of them growing up. If she would not have been our daytime nanny, there would have been no way Sarah and I could have done what we did. I think that over these years, we did a good job setting our priorities. Did we make it to every event our kids had? No. But we did our best to make sure at least one of us was there for all of them, rotating at times. Later on as they got older, we both got to make to the majority of their activities. And with all of the activities available to kids now, that was a lot. It was a lot of work, but I would not trade it for anything. It has been fun this last month as we get ready for Nick to graduate, looking through all of the pictures from these growing up years. It is why as a parent you want to be around, and help participate in all of these memories. So, all you parents out there. Keep working on your health so you can be around to share in all of these. Once the kids graduate, it won’t be long into the future and they will start having kids. Take if from me…I never got to meet either one of my grandfathers, and always felt like I missed out on a lot of things with them. Don’t be one of them. If you have any say in the matter, be around for those grandkids…to be able to spend time with them. Talk about something being truly priceless! Below are pictures of Nick and Noah when they graduated yesterday, holding their diplomas, and below that, the day they graduated from preschool. Time really does go fast! Keep moving everybody!
