I think with all the snow, and cold weather, it was time to bring back a view from warmer days. This again was on our adventure hiking in the Rocky Mountains the first week of October 2010. The views out hiking were incredible. The hours we would spend hiking just flew by, and did not even seem like we were exercising. This brings back good memories once again, and to a time when there was no snow! That time will come again. It is supposed to be 30 degrees tomorrow…great temp to go outside for a run!

Dan,
When you run outside in the winter, even in the warmer weather we had today and should have tomorrow, how do you stay safe and not slip on ice or in the muck?
Cory Ann–
In general, running shoes will have good, relatively deep grooves on the soles to help with some traction. You will still do some slipping, but you try and find areas of the road or sidewalk that is cleared better. It is not always perfect. It takes some getting used to, and you have to be sure you stretch well before and after. You have to choose some routes that are going to be safer as well because of the traffic. Here the biketrail is all blocked with snow, so you are in the road. Wear reflective gear if it is dark out, or go in the daylight (not always an option). As far as in the muck, well, that is part of the fun!
